Why do I compete?

Competition is a huge component in my life. I feel like I need to strive to be the best at everything I do. Whether it's sports, videogames and sometimes school, I treat many aspects of life as a competition. When I was 6 years old I fell in love with baseball and have been playing ever since. I've basically been playing baseball since I started going to school. Therefore, it's obvious that baseball ended up being my life. The feeling of winning never got old, and losing always taught me how to be better. While having fun playing baseball, I still felt like I was a student of the game. I would sit back and listen to coaches as if they were teachers and I feel like it gave me a better player and a better student as a whole. The older I got, the more competitive it all was and the more fun I was able to have. I eventually was recruited to play at my high school and applied there with several other teammates. High School baseball was an amazing experience all together because when you are good, people remember you, and many teams that we played remembered who I was. Also, high school ball is a fun transition through the four years of high school. You go from being the "little brother" as a freshman to eventually being the "big brother" as a senior. My senior year I was named captain of the team, and I was able to spread my competitive spirit across the team. I was able to teach the younger guys what was expected in high school baseball and how to tackle their biggest obstacles. I did not only want myself to be the best, I also wanted my team to be the best.
